Messages of Support

The movement to stop ecocide in Scotland is broad.

Below are just a few of the people, organisations and communities that support the proposed Ecocide (Prevention) (Scotland) Bill.

Together, we can give nature a voice and stop ecocide.

Stop Climate Chaos Scotland

"Scotland has shown climate leadership in the past, and now must seize the opportunity to be among the first countries in making ecocide, the severe or long term damage to the environment, a crime. Without properly protecting and recognising the importance of our land, sea, wildlife and biodiversity, we will have no chance of meeting our climate targets or maintaining a flourishing, liveable planet for everyone."

Scottish Environment LINK

"Serious environmental harm should be criminalised and prosecuted effectively, and much more needs to be done to ensure that current environmental law is effectively enforced and implemented. There is a current gap in the law relating to ecocide-level cases. Scottish Environment LINK members support the general principles of the Ecocide (Prevention) Bill, and look forward to effective parliamentary scrutiny of the proposal."
